Once the children get the lice, the adult lice can lay up to 10 eggs (also known as nits) each day. Within 1 to 2 weeks, those eggs will hatch and baby lice are born (A.K.A nymphs). The nymphs are small in comparison to the adult lice. However, after less than 2 weeks, those nymphs will reach their adult size and can start laying eggs.

Once a child gets head lice, the mature or adult head lice can lay up to 10 eggs or nits each day. These nits, or lice eggs, hatch in about 7 to 12 days. Baby lice or nymphs are about the size of a pinhead when they hatch, and quickly mature into adult lice in about a 9 to 12 days. The average life cycle of head lice is from 3 to 4 weeks.

2. Symptoms of head lice

When the kid is affected by head lice, it’s quite easy to recognize the symptoms. First of all, he will feel the itch on the scalp. Soon after that, there will be some red dots (rash) appear on the neck as the lice bite the skin to suck out blood. However, it’s recommended that you treat the head lice before the rash appear. When you can see the red area because of head lice’ bite, the problem is serious.
